Local Spotlight: Meet Nanoose Bay Photo Coach Deanna Johnson

Nanoose Bay photo coach Deanna Johnson smiling while seated on a sofa. There’s the family photo box that follows us from home to home: the family photos. We keep meaning to sort them, put names to the faces and do something with those old home movies. Somehow, it keeps slipping further down the list.

For my first monthly local business feature, I’m pleased to introduce fellow Nanoose Bay resident Deanna Johnson, owner of Deanna Johnson Photo Coach Inc. Deanna helps people make sense of their photo collections, preserve their family stories and bring treasured memories back into everyday life.

Deanna understands the challenge personally. After starting her own family and inheriting boxes of family photographs, she learned how to organize, preserve and share them digitally. Her lifelong love of family photos—and the people, memories and stories they hold—grew into a career helping other families preserve and celebrate their own.

Perhaps you’d love to share childhood photos with your grandchildren, watch a family video you haven’t seen in decades, restore a treasured photograph or finally turn a favourite holiday into a beautiful photo book. Deanna can help with everything from organizing printed and digital photos to converting videotapes, film reels, slides, negatives and other older recordings into formats your family can enjoy today.

You can have Deanna take care of the entire project, work alongside her for personalized guidance or start with one small box or collection. Her approach is friendly, practical and designed to make even an overwhelming photo project feel manageable.
For anyone preparing to downsize, Deanna’s services can also make one of the more emotional parts of moving much easier. She helps families decide which originals to keep while making their memories easier to find, share and pass along to future generations.

Deanna is also an active member of the local community and offers twice-monthly photo workshops at Nanoose Place. These relaxed sessions give people dedicated time, encouragement and hands-on help as they organize their photos and work on meaningful memory projects.

If your photos have been waiting for “someday,” perhaps this is the perfect place to begin. Reach out to Deanna for more information or to book a complimentary consultation. She would be happy to learn about your collection, discuss what you would like to accomplish and help you decide on a comfortable first step.
